The Smashing Pumpkins, who seven weeks ago did a secret show for 300 guests at an American Legion Hall in Hollywood, performed Saturday (7/4) in a stadium 200x larger just 11 miles away.
The Chicago rockers were on the unusually billed America 250 LA Fourth of July Concert that also featured Maren Morris, Queen Latifah, and Chris Stapleton.
Despite tickets being sold for just $17.76, sales were slow until 73-year-old Chaka Khan was added to the program.
For the Pumpkins, the LA Memorial Coliseum, home of the USC Trojans football team, and where track and field of the 1984 (and 1932) Olympics took place, became the largest audience in Los Angeles they’ve played in front of.
