Thanks to his biting topical lyrics, acoustic guitar and harmonica, and such a beautiful way with words, many have been comparing singer songwriter Jesse Welles to Bob Dylan.
But this month he’s been way more like a traveling troubadour who appears in unusual locations, for free, to play his politically tinged folk music while gathered around by whoever happened to be around or caught the message on the grapevine.
It all started on June 2 in Washington Square Park in New York City where the longhaired from Ozark, Arkansas set up shop not far from NYU surrounded by a large crowd.
This is the same park where Lorde live debuted “What Was That” in April of 2025 and where Yungblud did a little five-song surprise in 2022.
