Who doesn’t love a good supergroup? A member from this band joins forces with a member of another, and then a few others jump ship, all to make a brand new sound.
From Cream to Damn Yankees to The Traveling Wilburys, if there’s one complaint about supergroups it’s that there aren’t enough all-female ones, which is why it’s so great to see boygenius’ recent success.
boygenius, unlike many other supergroups, are comprised of three solo singer/songwriters: Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus. These women did not come from other bands, but they were in each other’s scenes. Baker and Bridgers both opened for Dacus at one point.
These days they are rocking the world, wearing suits, and supporting their debut full-length album, The Record.
So if that’s what the record is called, guess what they named the tour?
boygenius just completed the second leg of The Tour in Europe and are heading back to the States to play some mighty fancy venues like Madison Square Garden and the Hollywood Bowl.
