Dolly Parton is 77 years old and she still gets excited when her new music is warmly received. And because she’s the epitome of a southern gentlewoman, she has been known to send a thank you note. When the universally beloved country icon was to be inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame she felt undeserving since she wasn’t a rock singer.
No matter, they inducted her anyway since she’s such a rock star.
As is tradition, when Parton took to the stage to perform some of her classic hits, she surprised the star-studded audience when she walked out in a form-fitting black leather outfit and said, “I figure if I’m gonna be in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, I’m gonna have to earn it.”
She then strummed an unholy metal chord which forced on LL Cool J to cover his mouth in disbelief and made young Ed Sheeran to turn around and ask if he was dreaming. Dolly then broken into “Rockin,” a new song she wrote for the occasion where she explains she’s had rock ‘n roll in her country soul since the day she was born.
