The Smashing Pumpkins will be slowly releasing tracks from their forthcoming 33-song rock opera one-at-a-time through spring of next year in an unusually modern way.
Up through the triple-album’s 4/23/23 drop date, the band will reveal one song per episode, on their frontman’s podcast. Thirty-Three With William Patrick Corgan. The head Pumpkin promises “deep dives” into the new project which has been four years in the making. Expect a special guest on every episode, he says.
Yesterday (September 20) the band rocked their hometown club, Chicago’s Metro, and live-debuted a pair of those tracks (“Empires” and “Beguiled”) from anticipated album ATUM: A Rock Opera In Three Acts.
The Pumpkins are no strangers to the beloved 1,100 seat club in the shadows of Wrigley Field, having performed there nearly 40 times through their career, dating back to the 1980s.
