Marquee Memories: Adam Deitch of Lettuce

Tour or event poster for Marquee Memories: Adam Deitch of Lettuce

Lettuce sprouted in Boston in the early 1990s when a group of Berklee College of Music students embraced the funk in ways that grew into a band that has thrived for decades.

Consisting of Eric Bloom on trumpet, Ryan Zoidis on baritone and tenor saxophone, Erick “Maverick” Coomes on bass, Adam “Shmeeans” Smirnoff on guitar, Nigel Hall on keyboards and vocals, and Adam Deitch on drums, the band has recorded eight studio albums including their latest offering, Cook, which dropped in December of 2025.

Deitch grew up in a house where both his mother and father were drummers, a haven for a young musician to develop. He became talented at other instruments as well and is also completely capable in the studio.

As a producer Deitch has co-written and produced for artists like 50 Cent, Ledisi, Talib Kweli and Justin Timberlake.

A Banger Was Released Every Day In November

November gets plenty of credit for turkey, football and the annual rush to buy a slightly larger television. The record stores deserve a little attention, too. From Nirvana unplugging to Wu-Tang kicking the door in, this month has delivered an impressive pile of albums and plenty of ways to drown out Thanksgiving arguments. Here’s one for every day.
