The Smashing Pumpkins brought sunshine to a lucky crowd of 2,500 fans at Chicago’s Riviera Theatre on Wednesday (7/29), when they introduced the man many Gen Xers and older know as Greg Brady, Barry Williams, for a cover of the Brady Bunch song “It’s a Sunshine Day.”
The surprise appearance came during an official Lollapalooza aftershow two nights before the Pumpkins will headline the fest at Grant Park.
Williams and the main Pumpkin are now fast friends after the actor appeared on Billy Corgan’s podcast, The Magnificent Others, in May, but who knew a magnificent collab would follow a few months later?
“It’s a Sunshine Day” was released in 1972 on The Kids From the Brady Bunch, the third studio album recorded by Williams and the five actors who played his television siblings and lived on through endless reruns.
