Lollapalooza 2006 went down from August 4-6 in Chicago’s lakefront Grant Park, where the supersized eclectic spectacle graduated from curious experiment to an annual permanent cultural destination.
After returning in 2005 as a two-day fest, Lollapalooza expanded in 2006 to a three days, eight stages and 130+ performers.
The party amassed nearly two miles of park, which meant for the catch-22 of lots of space but long walks between sets.
Fans were pleased when they made it to the destination, however, because they were treated to the likes of The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kanye West, Death Cab for Cutie, The Flaming Lips, Wilco, Ween, My Morning Jacket, The Shins, Common, Gnarls Barkley, Panic! at the Disco, and The Hold Steady among others.
