While it’s a damn shame Conan O’Brien was robbed from his rightful place as the heir of the Tonight Show, as Johnny Carson intended, what he’s done after that putsch has been inspirational.
Conan could have pouted, burned bridges, sworn revenge and any number of things but instead he has explored a variety of other creative endeavors including a lovely podcast called Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend.
Sunday, July 28, he got a little help from some friends when he strapped on a guitar alongside some “Real Musicians.”
For 30 years guitarist Jimmy Vivino was Conan’s musical director on all of his late night TV shows. That was the role he played as Taylor Goldsmith and Dawes were Conan’s overly capable backup band. Throughout the 14-song set there were also horns and backup singers. Despite the comedic nature of Coco, it was a real thing.
