Billy Joel concluded his epic 10-year residency at Madison Square Garden last week with special guests including the singer of Guns N’ Roses and some surprise cover songs.
The Long Island native wrapped up an unbelievable run of 150 sold-out shows at the “World’s Most Famous Arena” with help from W. Axl Rose, and two of his daughters who all joined him on stage.
The 19,500 who were lucky enough to score tickets sang along and applauded wildly.
Some of those in attendance might have been too young to have caught the significance of the tape recorded music Joel, 75, came on stage to. The music was the Randy Newman-penned theme to The Natural, the 1984 baseball film starring Robert Redford that was played at Cal Ripken Jr’s final game in 2001.
