Cat Power is one of the most interesting singers in music and she’s been on a fascinating tour.
Notoriously shy on stage, the singer (who is no stranger to covering other artists) spent the last few months traveling North America and Europe mirroring Bob Dylan’s notorious 1966 “Royal Albert Hall” concert.
That was the Dylan tour where he had the nerve to use an electric guitar during the second half of the show while backed by who would called The Band. Back then every cool cat knew not to break the first rule of Folk Club: don’t plug into an amp.
Fun fact about The Bard’s Royal Albert Hall concert recording: it wasn’t at the Royal Albert Hall. The show first hit the streets as a bootleg but the cassette tape was mislabeled.
