A lot has been said about David Lee Roth’s solo excursions once Van Halen rocked their last show together in 2015.
Sometimes critics focus on Roth’s diminishing singing range, some on his sometimes controversial banter, and a few can’t take their eyes off of the 71-year-old’s tight leather pants.
But one thing is for certain, regardless if you think Van Halen was better with Sammy Hagar than DLR (or vice versa, like yours truly) is that Dave is a consummate performer and the epitome of a rock and roll singer of the late ’70s to ’80s.
And although some of his schlock has worn thin, and his dance moves have slowed, the songs he wrote with Van Halen and the covers they made their own, are rightfully in rock’s most glorious echelon.
