Rock’s funkiest and most lovable bassist, Flea, live debuted a beautiful rendition of Frank Ocean’s “Thinkin’ Bout You,” on Monday (3/23) on the Tonight Show in New York City.
The 63-year-old musician, best known as the heart and soul of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, was on the late night show to promote his debut solo album, Honora, off Nonsuch Records.
The record, which shows off Flea’s singing and horn playing skills, boasts six original tunes covers from the likes of George Clinton, Jimmy Webb, Ocean and others.
Flea covering Ocean is a delightful nod to the singer’s debut solo record of nearly 15 years ago. “Thinkin Bout You” was a hit for Ocean off his Channel Orange (2012) album and broke into the Billboard Hot 100.
