Johnny Marr, the musical genius behind the sound of The Smiths, is on a British tour this summer that kicked off Monday, July 17 in Holmfirth.
In the 36 years he’s been away from Moz, playing in bands like the Pretenders, The The, Modest Mouse, Electronic, and The Cribs; he’s also recorded five studio albums and four EPs. But he knows what the kids want.
Of the 21 tunes Marr and his band delivered to the attendees at the 700 seat Picturedrome in Holmfirth, eight were from his legendary band and just four were from his newest LP, Fever Dreams Pts. 1-4.
Fans were excited to hear the classic tunes, the new material and even the finale which was from his days with Electronic, in part because of Marr’s unique-sounding guitar solos.
