What doesn’t kill you sometimes still makes you postpone your opening weekend, which is a bummer for all affected. And in Kelly Clarkson’s case, it also made her stronger.
The very first American Idol was forced to delay her Studio Sessions residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on the fourth of July, but Miss Independent was back on track the following week (July 11 & 12) and delivered the powerful and lovable performance that won audiences over 23(!) years ago when she first appeared on the career-changing TV show.
In an attempt to give audiences the vibe of being in recording studio with her and her band, Clarkson ran through 22 songs, culled from all of her original LPs except for her two Christmas albums.
“I’m so sorry. We can’t help our bodies sometimes if we get sick, and that happens,” she explained to the audience on opening night and then acknowledging that music heals us.
