Born Alexandra Ashley Hughes in Toronto and raised in Oakville, Ontario, Allie X moved to Los Angeles early in her career and began releasing music independently while also working as a songwriter for other artists, most notably co-writing “BITE” and “Bloom” with Troye Sivan for his Blue Neighbourhood album.
Prolific, experimental, and always growing, Allie X has had several releases of her own: her studio albums are CollXtion II (2017), Cape God (2020), Girl With No Face (2024), as well as the 2018 EP Super Sunset.
Her most recent album, delightfully titled, Happiness Is Going to Get You includes the singles “Is Anybody Out There” and “Reunite.”
Recently she stepped into the Setlist Studios to chat it up with Bree Wilde where she talked about Ethel Cain, Charli XCX, and embracing the drama by composing on the piano.
