It was 10 years ago today, in the magical year of 2016, that someone figured out the 182nd day of the year should be proclaimed blink-182 Day.
According to legend, bassist Mark Hoppus sent out a tweet declaring July 1 as the special day, and voila, it happened.
There may have been a tad bit more preparation for it, though as the trio woke up early, put on their pants and jackets, and marched over to Central Park to hold an early morning concert in cahoots with Good Morning America, who happily aired some of the festivities.
It was the group’s first live TV performance with Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba on guitar who had replaced original singer/guitarist Tom DeLonge who had left the successful band to focus on studying UFOs.
