Setlist Insider: Silverstein

Tour or event poster for Setlist Insider: Silverstein

Silverstein formed 25 years ago in 2000 in Burlington, Ontario, Canada and quickly carved out a place in the post-hardcore scene. Their sound combined emo, hardcore, and melodic punk, marked by both heavy breakdowns and clear soaring choruses.

After a pair of early EPs, they signed with Victory Records (Thursday, Hawthorne Heights, Taking Back Sunday), and released their first full-length LP in 2003, When Broken Is Easily Fixed.

The band’s lineup has stayed largely unchanged over the years, with Shane Told on vocals, Josh Bradford on rhythm guitar, Billy Hamilton on bass and backing vocals, and Paul Koehler on drums. Paul Marc Rousseau, who joined in 2012, shreds on the lead guitar and also contributes vocals.

In 2025, Silverstein (named after the thought-provoking children’s author, Shel) is celebrating their 25th anniversary with two albums. Antibloom, which dropped earlier in the year, is oozing with their heavier, more aggressive edge. Pink Moon, due next month, taps into their melodic side and features guest appearances from Dayseeker’s Rory Rodriguez and Cassadee Pope.
