Tears For Fears Unveil Live Debut in Las Vegas Residency

Shots were fired in Las Vegas at the spanking new Fontainebleau resort in Las Vegas when the typically soft-spoken singer /songwriter Roland Orzabal took aim at a pair of peers.

“Last time we played Vegas it was with Hall & Oates. They called it a battle of the duos,” Orzabal quipped Wednesday night (10/30) just off The Strip.

“Looks like we won that battle,” he said to the 3,800 fans at the BleauLive Theater.

The 63-year-old Brit is referring to a gig they played at the far larger T-Mobile Arena in 2017 during their 29-date co-headlining tour with the American duo who has since split up. Was there bad blood during that stint seven years ago?

When that tour began, the band had nothing but nice things to say about the most successful duo in rock history.

Nirvana used the opportunity to sidestep the obvious hits and lean on David Bowie, Lead Belly and the Meat Puppets. Kurt Cobain’s final howl in “Where Did You Sleep Last Night” makes the usual unplugged-session chatter about intimacy seem rather inadequate.
