The Gorge Amphitheatre: Venue Spotlight

The Gorge Amphitheatre: Venue Spotlight

The Gorge began innocently enough in the late 1970s when a sweet couple, Vince and Carol Bryan, who bought land above the Columbia River near George, Washington.

Their goal was to build a winery, which they did, called Champs de Brionne.

But due to the land’s natural bowl facing the Columbia River, the view was just too spectacular to keep to themselves so the Bryan’s put together a small stage and seating situation where people could drink and enjoy the band they had hired.

Because they were new to being vinters the wine wasn’t as delicious as they hoped, but the vibes were great and the view was out of this world. Everyone asked when the next concert would be held.
