Rahema Shifa Alemeda was born in Ethiopia and grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. Her family comes from the Gurage tribe which inspired her stage name, spelled Alemeda so it would be easier to Google.
Like many, she moved to LA around to pursue music full time, posting covers on SoundCloud, and other parts of social media. Her 2021 independent single “Gonna Bleach My Eyebrows,” did pretty well on TikTok and she later signed a deal with Top Dawg Entertainment whose flagship artist is Kendrick Lamar.
She became just the third woman on TDE’s roster after SZA and Doechii. They released her debut EP FK IT on the same day her signing was announced.
In October 2025 she released But What The Hell Do I Know, a second EP that included a collab with the Swamp Queen on the track “Beat A B!tch Up.”
