Maris Maddux-Ward, known professionally as MARIS grew up in Missoula, Montana, but you’ve probably never met anyone else from there like her.
After performing publicly as a teenager she moved to Los Angeles to follow her dream, and it paid off. Her breakout single “Give Me a Sign,” featuring Caroline Kingsbury, was released in March and quickly caught fire, becoming a streaming favorite, crossing one million Spotify plays within its first month and surpassing two million by the end of the summer.
Her collab with Kingsbury, another independent pop artist, blended both of their styles into what PM Studio described as “a glimmering slice of fearless pop.” The single’s buzz made MARIS a rising name in queer-leaning alt pop, paving the way for followup singles “It’s Hard (to Be a Man)” and “Super F***ing Mega Star.”
This spring she joined Maude Latour on the Sugar Water Tour and announced a fall co-headlining run with Kingsbury. The shows mark her first full national tour as a featured act.
