Never tempt Usher with a good time.
A touch more than 20 years ago, BBC host Trevor Nelson told a then-24 year old Usher, “promise me you’ll never be a Las Vegas [scoffs] resident in 20 years time.”
To his credit and foresight, Usher refused to paint himself into that corner.
“I can’t promise you that,” the performer said quickly and confidently. As he looked off imagining it, check that, visualising it, Usher explained that a Vegas appearance wouldn’t be a fat paycheck but a sad experience, “it would be a phenomenal show.”
