Busted, the British power pop group, is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a Greatest Hits Tour around the UK.
The trio of James Bourne, Charlie Simpson, and Matt Willis were quite successful in Britain up until they split in 2005. Meanwhile in the US, they’re probably best known for the song “Year 3000” which they originally released but then suggested in 2006 to the Jonas Brothers that they should cover it.
It was a rough time for the JoBros when Busted offered the song as they had been dropped by Columbia because their debut didn’t live up to expectations.
The Busted cover became the lead single of the brothers’ self titled debut for Hollywood Records. It also became their first top 40 single.
Because the Jonas Brothers had a younger audience, they changed some of the references like instead of the original line about Michael Jackson, it was changed to Kelly Clarkson.
