No better city than the Windy for Flea to show off his skills on the trumpet, which he did in Chicago on Thursday (5/7).
The Red Hot Chili Pepper bassist also got to shred on the four string, but instead of slapping the funk, he slowed it down and jazzed it up with his first proper gig with the the Honora Band.
The fans at the intimate Thalia Hall ate up the show supporting Honora, his first full-length solo album, which dropped in March via Nonesuch.
The Chicagoans were blessed to soak in Flea (trumpet, bass), Josh Johnson (saxophone, keyboards), Jeff Parker (guitar), Anna Butterss (bass) and Deantoni Parks (drums), as they eased through originals, covers, with nearly the entire show being live debuts.
