The incredibly prolific Rivers Cuomo has written so many songs that he’s recorded with Weezer that they could put on several shows with setlists solely of music that has never been played live.
Of their 13 studio albums, four EPs, the Death to False Metal compilation, deluxe and bonus editions, B-sides, soundtrack appearances, fan-club releases and standalone singles, there are approximately 90 songs that were recorded and released that never got an audience.
Now that Rivers (vocals, guitar), Brian Bell (guitar, backing vocals, keyboards), Scott Shriner (bass, backing vocals) and Patrick Wilson (drums, backing vocals) are poised on a world tour to support a new collection of songs, it’s hard to believe that 90 won’t bloat to triple digits soon.
So how about we daydream of a show at the end of the year where Weezer can give 19 of them their overdue live debuts?
