There’s no band more prolific than King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard. The psychedelic genre-swapping Aussie stars have cranked out 26 mind-bending studio albums along with 56 live albums, four compilation albums, a remix LP, and a trio EPs.
Along the way they’ve made 59 singles, and entertained our eyes with 60 trippy music videos.
While they were in LA, Stu and Lucas sat down with us to talk about their humble early days and being trailblazers by doing things like playing Red Rocks twice in one day.
Lucas Skinner: When we went to [college] we did this Performance course, and we just kind of formed King Gizzard. It literally says [on our first setlist] uni “assessment.” There are a group of fans who are putting together a history and dig up stuff that we definitely have forgotten or don’t really have record of anymore. It’s really cool.
Stu Mackenzie: We toured the States for the first time in 2014. Nobody came.
