Pavement kicked off their seven-date U.S. Tour Summer ’26 on Friday (7/17) at Mosswood Park in Oakland, returning to Northern California for a intimate gig close to its Stockton roots.
More than 1,000 people attended the separately ticketed opening-night show, a bonus to the Mosswood Meltdown and its typical Saturday and Sunday schedule.
Vivian Girls and Wednesday opened the show, while the legendary indie filmmaker John Waters was its hilarious host.
Stephen Malkmus (vocals, guitar), Scott “Spiral Stairs” Kannberg (guitar, vocals), Mark Ibold (bass), Steve West (drums), Bob Nastanovich (percussion, vocals, keyboards) have been Pavement since they blew up in the 1990s. Since 2022 they have also been touring with Rebecca Cole (keyboards, percussion, backing vocals) to help fill up the sound.
