A staple of 1980s radio and MTV, Bonnie Tyler was born Gaynor Hopkins. She grew up in Skewen, Wales, to a coal mining father and a mother who loved opera. Like many singers, Bonnie got her start singing in church where she developed her remarkable voice.
Hers, though would help her sell over 100 million records.
Bonnie left school at 16 and spent years grinding it out in small clubs around South Wales before being discovered.Talent scout Roger Bell was impressed after hearing her sing with her band Imagination at the Townsman Club in Swansea.
He took her to London, cut demos, changed her name to Bonnie Tyler and got her signed to RCA.
