Jeff Tweedy Tries On Twisted Teens’ ‘Wild Connection’

September 13, 2026

Jeff Tweedy

Jeff Tweedy has reached into the rapidly expanding Twisted Teens catalog for his latest stripped-down cover, taking on “Wild Connection” from the New Orleans band’s Blame the Clown. The Wilco frontman posted his version through his Starship Casual newsletter after returning from Europe.

Tweedy said part of the challenge was resisting the urge to imitate singer Caspian Hollywell, whose voice is one of the things he likes about the band. Instead, he approached the cover the way he often does: learning what happens when somebody else’s song passes through his own voice and instincts. This time, he thought the result sounded recognizably like him, only a little younger.

Twisted Teens have been moving at an absurd pace in 2026. Blame the Clown arrived earlier this year, followed by Florida Water Blues, and the duo has already announced another album, The Holy Cross Tigers, due 11/6 through Sub Pop. Tweedy, meanwhile, has made covers a regular part of Starship Casual, including recent takes on Cameron Winter’s “Love Takes Miles” and Star Moles’ “Real Magic.”
