Joni Mitchell sure knows how to make a return engagement.
The 80-year-old Canadian folk singer who bought a house in the hippie haven of Laurel Canyon in 1968, hadn’t headlined a proper concert in her adopted hometown in over 24 years.
Her last true LA gig was in 2000 in Los Feliz’s Greek Theater to kick off the Both Sides Now Tour. Last weekend (10/19 & 10/20) she brought The Joni Jam to the Hollywood Bowl.
Besides being a much larger, more historic venue than the cozier Greek, the Bowl is a mere 15-minute drive from Laurel Canyon where Joni’s house became the center of jam sessions among the likes of Jackson Browne, Mama Cass, James Taylor and the producer of her debut album, David Crosby.
