Marquee Memories: KennyHoopla

Marquee Memories: KennyHoopla

KennyHoopla, who turned 28 last month, is a midwesterner who has spent time in Cleveland, Ohio, and Oshkosh, Wisconsin, b’gosh.

He began uploading music on SoundCloud in 2016, releasing the lo-fi EP Beneath the Willow Tree that mixed indie rock and experimental elements. From there, he steadily built an online following and attracted blog attention back when that medium was thriving.

His breakthrough came in 2020 with the single “how will i rest in peace if i’m buried by a highway?//,” which climbed to #8 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart. Now his discography includes four EPs: Beneath the Willow Tree (2016), How Will I Rest in Peace if I’m Buried by a Highway? (2020), Blink and You’ll Miss It (2023, with Travis Barker), and Rebirth//Renaissance (2025). And his serious fans loved his 2021 mixtape, Survivors Guilt: The Mixtape.

This month he dropped his latest EP, Conditions of an Orphan which he is supporting with a tour that just kicked off at the legendary Roxy in West Hollywood on the Sunset Strip.

Billy Strings Performs as He-Man For His Annual Halloween Concert

Billy Strings performing live

Because he's as close to the master of the universe as a new guitar hero has gotten recently, Billy Strings dressed up as He-Man and welcomed Molly Tuttle and Sierra Hull for his annual Halloween concert (10/31) at Baltimore’s CFG Bank Arena.

Billed as Heartbeat of Eternia, the show featured new originals written for the festivities alongside covers of 4 Non Blondes, Diana Ross, Slayer, and Black Sabbath.

Insider: Imminence

Imminence

Imminence began when two Swedish teenagers started jamming in a basement with the humble goal of playing their music in front of people.

Singer/violinist Eddie Berg and guitarist Harald Barrett launched the band in Trelleborg in 2010, pouring all they had into equipment, recordings, videos, and CDs. They booked their own tours in DIY fashion like many before them, but their sound was uniquely theirs.

A Banger Was Released Every Day In November

A Banger Was Released Every Day In November

November gets plenty of credit for turkey, football and the annual rush to buy a slightly larger television. The record stores deserve a little attention, too. From Nirvana unplugging to Wu-Tang kicking the door in, this month has delivered an impressive pile of albums and plenty of ways to drown out Thanksgiving arguments. Here’s one for every day.
