Some live cuts even transcended their originals. “I Want You To Want Me” off of Cheap Trick at Budokan is the preferred version for most listeners.
Same goes for AC/DC’s “Whole Lotta Rosie,” Bob Seger’s “Turn The Page,” Peter Frampton’s “Show Me the Way,” and to an extent Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” (does anyone remember laughter?).
So when you think of Bob Marley’s iconic “No Woman, No Cry,” you probably are not thinking of the studio version from 1974’s Natty Dread album, the first to feature the singer without his longtime bandmates Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer – who had split.
