On this day in 2012, Marina Diamandis, then of Marina and the Diamonds, live-debuted “How to Be a Heartbreaker” at the HMV Institute in Birmingham, England.
The tune was written too late for the original pressing of the UK version of the Electra Heart album which had come out that spring, but was included on the US version of the album which was released later that year.
The Lonely Hearts tour was a long one.
It kicked off with opening spots for Coldplay in giant European stadiums in late 2011 and went on for over 80 shows, culminating in New York City alongside Charli XCX at Central Park’s Summerstage in May 2013.
