As the crowd chanted his first name, Steven Adler, the original drummer of Guns N’ Roses hugged his former bandmate Duff McKagan and childhood friend Slash on Monday (3/23).
Still sporting his long blonde hair and wide smile, Adler made his way across the legendary stage at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, and into his rightful place behind the drums.
The reason the musicians were on stage together along with GNR’s rhythm guitarist Gilby Clarke and Faster Pussycat singer Taime Downe was to honor the memory of veteran concert promoter Jennifer Perry who got her start at the Troubadour, one of the clubs Guns cut their teeth in.
“This night celebrates her passion for championing the bands she believed in. If she loved your music, she made sure the world heard it,” her cohort Vicky Hamilton wrote to promote the show, which cost just $20, with proceeds going to MusiCares.
