Soundgarden Joined by Carlile, Momsen at Rock Hall Performance

Soundgarden, the legendary Seattle grunge band originally fronted by Chris Cornell, who alongside guitarist Kim Thayil, drummer Matt Cameron and bassist Ben Shepherd produced a number of essential albums beginning in the mid 1980s, now have their spot in the RRHOF.

Their induction into the Roll Hall of Fame on Saturday (11/8) was a bittersweet one because on one hand the honor was long overdue and worthy, but it also reminded music fans what a loss Cornell’s death has been to both the culture as well as to his family and friends.

Soundgarden’s portion of the Rock Hall’s ceremony (which also gave love to Outkast, The White Stripes and others) included some special guests including Hiro Yamamoto, the group’s original bassist who joined the remaining members onstage for the first time since the late 1980s.

Also participating was Cornell’s daughter Lily Cornell Silver and her mother Susan Silver, the singer’s widow.

“I’m honored to be here to celebrate Soundgarden and my dad as a songwriter, musician and amazing singer, and also to celebrate my mom, Susan Silver, who managed Soundgarden from 1986 into the 2000s. And she’s a major badass,” Lily said
