You oughta know by now that SXSW has a long history of guest appearances and one-of-a-kind collabs.
So when attendees of this year’s music festival saw that St. Vincent was doing a DJ set on the same bill as Alanis Morissette at the world famous Stubb’s on Saturday (3/14), they should have assumed something special could have been in the works.
And because magic has a way of happening on Red River in Austin, near the end of Alanis’ full set, Annie Clark appeared and the pair performed “You Oughta Know” together.
“You Oughta Know” was an interesting song as far as the charts go because when it dropped in summer 1995, Billboard’s Hot 100 only included songs that had been released as commercial retail singles.
