Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer” continues to be the surprise hit of the year.
As the Eras Tour winds up its US swing with a series of sold-out concerts in Los Angeles, the four year old single continues to climb the charts despite Swift’s record label focusing on the current single, “Karma.”
But Lover‘s “Cruel Summer” has a mind of its own and refuses to cool off.
Originally released in 2019, the global pandemic stifled its growth at #29 on the Hot 100. But with the unprecedented popularity of the Eras Tour and its primo placement of it on the setlist added with the scream-along lines, co-written by the magical St. Vincent, like “said ‘I’m fine’ but it wasn’t true, I don’t wanna keep secrets just to keep you,” it’s the perfect anti-love love song.
