The Chainsmokers’ concert in San Jose sent 14 people to local hospitals Friday night after a series of medical emergencies during the EDM duo’s outdoor show at Discovery Meadow.
The San Jose Fire Department said crews were called to the venue at 8:22 p.m. and quickly requested an ambulance task force and additional advanced life-support units as the number of patients grew. Fourteen ambulances responded and 14 people were taken to local hospitals.
Police said several concertgoers were being treated for suspected alcohol intoxication and drug-related issues.
Officials have not said drugs or alcohol caused all 14 hospitalizations, and the conditions of the patients were not disclosed. The concert continued despite the emergency response, and the Chainsmokers later shared video from the show on social media.
