Unlocked: The Beaches

The Beaches, Tornoto’s all-female quartet — Jordan Miller, Kylie Miller, Leandra Earl and Eliza Enman-McDaniel — whose infectious indie rock sounds and style continue to gain steam, are letting us dig deep into their phones.

Their third studio album, No Hard Feelings, was released last month on AWAL, the same unique label that dropped albums this year by Laufey, Little Simz, Rex Orange County, and Disclosure.

Older sister Jordan was born in Toronto’s Beaches neighborhood (thus the name) and serves as lead vocalist and bassist. Younger sister Kylie rocks the guitar. Leandra Earl, who grew up in Toronto’s Little Italy, is a multi-instrumentalist who you’ll often find behind the keyboards and backing vocals, as well as co-writing many songs. Eliza Enman-McDaniel, also from the Beaches neighborhood, is the drummer.

The Miller sisters originally played together as children before forming a pop-punk project with Enman-McDaniel. That evolved into The Beaches once Earl joined.
