Metallica kicked off its epic M72 World Tour today (April 27) in Amsterdam, Netherlands with a couple of live debuts and a few surprises.
The biggest surprise came right off the back when the San Francisco metal legends launched off with “Orion,” a tune they haven’t opened with since a club date they did at the Fillmore in 2011.
Next they said hello to Holland with the classic “For Whom The Bell Tolls” followed by a deep cut from the Black Album “Holier Than Thou,” – a tune they only played live once in the 1990s, but have seemingly warmed up to it as of this century. They rocked it live on Jimmy Kimmel just a few weeks ago, for example.
Sandwiching “Fade to Black,” Metallica introduced two new songs from their new album, 72 Seasons: “Screaming Suicide” and “Sleepwalk My Life Away” – both live debuts.
