Slash quietly pieced together a private, invitation-only show at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY on Thursday (12/11), amassing a supergroup billed as The Dirty Bats.
The Guns N’ Roses guitar hero led the band and singers from Anthony Kiedis, Bruno Mars, Eddie Vedder, and Brandi Carlile through a litany of classic rock covers from Led Zeppelin to Queen to the Allman Brothers to Nirvana.
But why? Reportedly it was a private event for the holding company Eldridge Industries, a $70 billion organization whose entertainment assets include Dick Clark Productions (which owns the Golden Globes); Penske Media Eldridge, which controls Rolling Stone, Billboard, Variety, and The Hollywood Reporter; a controlling stake in the Life Is Beautiful festival; and minority investments in companies such as A24, among many others.
Some are calling the show a glorified holiday party for Eldridge and if it was: holy smokes, imagine being a plus one?
