The biggest metal band in the world, Metallica, is getting their own channel on the SiriusXM satellite network and to celebrate they played an intimate concert last Thursday (8/28) in a town not really known for Flying Vs and power chords: in the well-heeled hamlet of East Hampton.
Amagansett is the retreat for wealthy New Yorkers, filthy with multimillion-dollar homes, beachfront estates, and a mix of celebrity residents and vacation-home owners who want to be even more low-key than their neighbors over in Southampton.
It’s the sort of place you’re more likely to see Scarlett Johansson and Paul McCartney getting their steps in than Robert Trujillo snagging some crisp new shorts at American Eagle Outfitters.
The metal legends performed 14 typical Metallica jams for the lucky 250 in attendance at The Stephen Talkhouse, which although quaint, seems to be the spot some big names like to play in.
