Rammstein returned to Canada for the first time since 2017 with a sonic assault of flames, power and modern majesty, pleasing fans, and angering foes.
Over 42,000 attendees ignored warnings of deadly lighting, torrential rains, hail, mud and thunder, while pilgrimaging to Montreal's Parc Jean Drapeau to experience the show that was originally scheduled for August of 2020.
Kicking off its Korn + Evanescence tour in Denver on August 16th, the Nu Metal veterans turned in a greatest hits collection of sorts at Ball Arena, dealing out no more than two songs from 10 of its 14 albums.
Korn's most recent offering, Requiem, spent a week at the top of the US Billboard hard rock charts this year and went #1 in Australia and Switzerland. This spring they toured to support it with sets that included four tracks from the nine-song album, but for their summer tour with old pals Amy Lee and Evanescence, they seem to be cutting it back to just two tunes from their latest.
Evanescence kicked off their U.S. tour with Korn on August 18, 2022 at Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado.
The arena, formerly known as the Pepsi Center, sold its naming rights to Ball Corporation, best known for those durable glass mason jars used in canning fruits, deserts and overnight oats.
Muna, the queer pop trio signed to Phoebe Bridgers' label Saddest Factory, recently released their third album. To support their self-titled offering, which has already produced five singles, the band have hit the road. Zig-zagging around the country, this month the LA natives will find themselves (and opening act Jensen McRae) in the midwest and the south, followed by a handful of dates on the west coast, highlighted with an appearance at the Day In Day Out festival in Seattle Washington.
In late July, Muna kicked off their show in Chicago with a live debut of their most recent single "What I Want." The ladies, who met each other when they were students at USC, went on to deliver a total of 18 songs in the set including four other live debuts from the MUNA album: "Loose Garment," "Solid," "Runner’s High," and "No Idea." Singer Katie Gavin, lead guitarist Josette Maskin and multi-instrumentalist Naomi McPherson are no strangers to sprinkling covers into their sets. The group, who were first signed to RCA in 2016, have covered iconic artists from U2 to Michael Jackson to Stevie Nicks in concert. At the July 28th Thalia Hall gig, which was a bit of a tune up for their appearance at Lollapalooza across town the next day, the band paid homage to The Killers' hit, "Mr. Bright Eyes." It was just the second time the band had covered the Vegas rockers live.
