Los Angeles’ X are going to call it a career very soon. But being punk rockers they probably won’t do it in the traditional way, so if you hear they are playing in your town you should probably see Exene, John Doe, Billy Zoom and DJ Bonebrake while you can.
The legendary band has been playing on borrowed time in a way since 2015 when Zoom was diagnosed with an aggressive pancreatic cancer. Now 76 years-old, the guitarist is still rocking, albeit seated when performing, thanks to a successful regiment of chemo which has made him cancer-free, he says.
Never has his beautiful perma-smile shone so bright.
Over the last few weeks X has made their rounds throughout Southern California including a stop at the giant record store, Amoeba, where they signed copies of their latest and final album, Smoke & Fiction.
