There are many ways to promote an upcoming tour. Some are genius. Most are not.
Back in the 1980s one of the ways involved MTV and music videos and getting on the news because social media was decades away.
Hard to believe, but in 1987 when U2 was gearing up for the Joshua Tree Tour, there wasn’t even the Internet.
So in equal parts spectacle and creativity, it was decided the Irish quartet who was quickly becoming global superstars would take a page from the Beatles’ playbook and do a few songs on top of building.
