What went down this weekend in the Bronx could easily be argued as the most incredible three consecutive nights at Yankee Stadium in its history,
Since the Steinbrenners erected their new stadium in 2009 and moved the Yankees from its former home that opened in 1923 (“The House That Ruth Built”) into the new digs, a laundry list of memorable and historic events have happened there.
Both Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez recorded their 3,000th hit and Aaron Judge smashed 60 homers in just one season there. The New York Rangers won two outdoor NHL Stadium Series games, defeating the New Jersey Devils and the NY Islanders 2-1 before crowds exceeding 50,000.
And in 2023, Hip Hop 50 Live celebrated the genre born in NYC with a 50th anniversary bash starring Run-D.M.C., Nas, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Ice Cube, Lil’ Kim, Slick Rick, Kurtis Blow, the Sugarhill Gang and dozens of others.
