Sorry, Thanksgiving, the minute Halloween struck midnight in NYC, Mariah Carey declared it was time to get into the Christmas spirit.
“It’s Time!!” she declared on her social channels in a video where she is thawed from a block of ice and the prancing beat of “All I Want For Christmas” kicks in.
It’s hard to believe but it was 29 years ago that Mariah delivered unto the world the holiday smash that in 2021 became the only holiday single to be given the Diamond Award (in recognition of ten million sales and streaming units in the United States) by RIAA.
Recorded in 1994 for her fourth studio album and her first holiday LP, Merry Christmas, the universality of the tune and the evergreen nature of the lyrics has provided the joyful song to find a new life year after year.
