Bruce Springsteen live debuted his new single, “Streets of Minneapolis,” in the apropos city of Minneapolis, in the Twin City’s most famous music venue, First Avenue, not far from where the subjects of the song were tragically struck down.
On Friday (1/30), the Boss surprised the 1,500 who packed the club made famous by Prince in the Purple Rain movie, who were there for a Tom Morello benefit called A Concert of Solidarity & Resistance to Defend Minnesota!
After Rise Against warming up the crowd and Tom Morello leading them into a set of originals, tunes from his Audioslave and Rage Against The Machine era, Springsteen appeared to thunderous applause.
The 76-year-old had just appeared at The Light of Day annual benefit in New Jersey a week previous where he rocked out with the Minneapolis frontman of the Goo Goo Dolls and others when accepted the call from his former E. Street Bandmate.
