Just weeks after hearing the tragic news that both her mother and sister died in separate, unrelated circumstances, Mariah performed to enormous audiences in China and then Brazil.
The Grammy-winning singer sung to two nights of sold out crowds in Beijing on Sept 15 & 16th.
“My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day,” the singer told People regarding her 87-year-old mother, a former opera singer who trained at Juilliard, and her 63-year-old sister.
“I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed,” Mariah continued. “I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.”
